About The Event

Dr. Austin Long is Senior Nuclear Fellow at the Center for Nuclear Security Policy at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. At the Department of Defense, Dr. Long was previously responsible for the formulation of Joint Staff positions and recommendations regarding strategy, plans and policy for strategic deterrence, space, cyberspace, electromagnetic spectrum operations, information operations, nuclear, missile defense, countering weapons of mass destruction, subsea and seabed warfare, arms control, and other international negotiations. He was previously Vice Deputy Director for Strategic Stability. Prior to joining the Joint Staff, Dr. Long was a senior political scientist at the RAND Corporation, an associate professor at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, and an analyst and adviser to the U.S. military in several capacities.
