John F. Kirby is a retired U.S. Navy Rear Admiral whose remarkable career spans the most demanding arenas — from service aboard warships at sea to the highest levels of government. Recognized for his calm demeanor and unwavering credibility, Kirby has been a trusted advisor to Presidents, Secretaries of Defense and State, and top military leaders. As the first uniformed officer to serve as Pentagon Press Secretary — and the only person ever to brief reporters at the Pentagon, State Department, and White House — he has shaped national security narratives and guided high-stakes decision-making under intense public scrutiny.
